Music Therapy is an evidence-based therapy that uses a variety of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship. Goals are determined through an on-going assessment discussed between the therapist and client. Individual music therapy is a form of expressive therapy that uses both instrumental and vocal techniques and the therapeutic relationship to help express thoughts and feelings in a safe, structured, and supportive environment. Interventions commonly practiced include: song writing, music and relaxation, music and art, improvisation, lyric discussion, and music and imagery.
